"I Treat People How They Deserve To Be Treated"

Transparency Thursday: Comment and drop a 💯 if you can relate. Each week, I want to share transparent stories boy my life/mental health in an effort to motivate others to not suffer in silence!

The saying "treat people the way you want to be treated" is a watered down statement in my opinion. In the past, when I treated people the way I wanted to be treated, it left me disappointed and emotionally drained. The reason is because I had expectations for people hoping they would live up to them when all I was doing was setting myself up for disappointment. I became emotional when people treated me other than what I expected, and when people let me down.

So, I stopped believing in that statement and instead treated people the way they DESERVED to be treated. Sounds kind of hard but I had to protect my emotional well-being. I no longer put expectations on people. Instead, I observed people's actions. This has been a big relief for me in knowing I treat people the way they deserve to be. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I held that in for years because I thought people would say I'm insolent.
